CO-Gas Safety Schools Poster Competition 2009/10

An email has been sent to all teachers who submitted entries for 2008/09 Schools Poster Competition.  If you submitted entries and have NOT received an email from Stephanie Trotter of CO-Gas Safety, the entries have not been received and you should contact us urgently, by email - office@co-gassafety.co.uk or phone - 01372 466135. Winners will be notified shortly.

The aim of this poster competition is to raise awareness of the silent killer, carbon monoxide poisoning and how to prevent it and thereby save lives and preserve health. The poster competition is for the last year of state primary school (year 6, i.e. aged 10-11). If you have any comments or queries please email Stephanie Trotter OBE at office@co-gassafety.co.uk

Please click on the picture above to see a film of a talk to a primary school about carbon monoxide and the charity schools poster competition. Paul Overton, director of CO-Gas Safety and stepfather of Katie Overton gave a talk to Craneswater Junior School in November 2008. Katie died of CO aged 11 in 2003 while she was attending this school.

Illustrated materials about carbon monoxide written especially for the competition as well as the competition rules are available by following the link above. The prizes are £200 for the students and £300 (to be spent on IT equipment) for each winning school. There are two regions (see rules) so there will be one winning student for each region and one overall winning student but we are also hoping for an overseas winner. Winners will be presented with prizes at an event at the Houses of Parliament.

It is recommended that all students and teachers print out the material available as well as the rules and read them thoroughly before entering. To win an entry must be both accurate and have IMPACT. The Carbon Monoxide Gas Safety charity encourages students and teachers to take the materials about carbon monoxide home to their families.
